Holiday Portrait
‘Holiday portrait’ is a collection of photos of umbrellas on an oceanic beach near Pachino, a small village in Sicily, taken with a Hasselblad on medium format film. By photographing the beach site while the bather is away, the umbrella becomes an extension of its absent owners; the nature and location of the objects tell the lives and days of the owners. Looking at these umbrellas, you can see how much of the objects can allow us to peek into a person's life. The presence of invisible human beings, and how much they are linked to the things they have left on the shore. Through this series of photographs we realize how, in this part of Sicily, the locals live the beach of the ocean as if it were their home. All the pictures are in 120mm film.
